- Saudi search is Google search, and many Arabic shopping terms still have weak results. A well-built Shopify store can rank for them.
- You compete with amazon.sa, noon and thousands of Salla and Zid storefronts. Each has a weak spot a brand store can use.
- We fix the Shopify-specific issues first: Markets subfolders, hreflang, Arabic checkout strings, collection URLs, filters and speed.
- Keywords come from Saudi search behaviour, not translation. جوال beats موبايل, and شنطة beats حقيبة.
- No ranking guarantees. You get a written scope, the work done on your own store and monthly Search Console reporting.
Saudi shoppers search Google before they buy. And for a lot of Arabic shopping terms, the results are still thin.
That's a real opening for Shopify stores. A brand store with proper Arabic pages can rank above marketplace listings and copy-paste storefronts.
But Shopify doesn't do it for you. Arabic URLs, hreflang, collection pages and checkout text all need setting up for Saudi search.
That's what this service does. We handle SEO for Shopify stores selling in Saudi Arabia, in Arabic and English, so more of your sales come from search you don't pay for.
Who is this service for?
It's for Shopify stores that want steady, unpaid traffic from Saudi Google, in Arabic first and English second.
It suits:
- Saudi brands on Shopify. Your store sells, but almost all of it comes from Instagram, Snapchat or paid ads. You want search to carry part of the load.
- Gulf and international brands entering the Kingdom. You have a Shopify store, maybe with Arabic added through an app, and Saudi Google barely shows it.
- Stores that just moved from Salla or Zid. You need the new Shopify URLs indexed and your old rankings carried across.
- Stores launching Arabic for the first time. You want the Arabic version built for search from day one, not fixed later.
The outcome is simple. Your collection and product pages show up when Saudis search for what you sell, in the words they actually type.
Still choosing a platform? Our Shopify vs Salla vs Zid comparison covers the SEO side of that choice too.
Who are you competing with on Google in Saudi Arabia?
Your rivals on google.com.sa aren't only other Shopify stores. Four groups share the top results for most shopping searches, and each has a weak spot.
| Competitor | Where they're strong | Where a Shopify store can win |
|---|---|---|
| amazon.sa and noon | Huge authority, broad head terms, fast delivery promises | Specific searches where a focused collection page answers better than a marketplace grid |
| Salla and Zid storefronts | Arabic-first by default, many local brands | Platform-default pages are often thin, with empty collection intros and repeated metas |
| Big local retailers | Strong brands such as Jarir and Extra in electronics | Niche categories and long-tail searches they don't cover in depth |
| Cross-border sites | Low prices and big catalogues | Arabic quality, local delivery, VAT-inclusive SAR prices and Saudi trust signals |
Here's why that matters. You don't need to beat amazon.sa for "perfume". You need to win searches like a scent family plus "for men", or a product plus a Saudi city, where your page is the best answer.
So we pick your battles first. Every keyword in the plan has a reason it's winnable, based on who ranks for it today.
What's included in Shopify SEO for Saudi Arabia?
The work falls into six areas. We scope each one to your store, so you only pay for what moves your rankings.
1. Saudi keyword research
- Saudi dialect, not textbook Arabic. Saudis search شنطة for a bag, not حقيبة. They type كود خصم for a discount code, while the formal رمز خصم gets almost no searches.
- Spelling variants. Hamza, ة versus ه and plural forms, grouped so one page targets the whole cluster.
- English and Arabic-script brand terms. Many Saudis type ايفون or the brand in Latin letters. We map both.
- A keyword map. One spreadsheet linking each Arabic and English term to the Shopify collection, product or page that should rank for it.
For example, a perfume store's map might start like this:
| Search term | Language | Page that should rank | Why this page |
|---|---|---|---|
| عطور رجالية | Arabic | Men's perfume collection | Broad category intent, so a collection grid fits |
| عطر عود رجالي | Arabic | Oud for men sub-collection | Narrower search a marketplace grid answers poorly |
| oud perfume for men | English | Same sub-collection, English version | Same intent, linked by hreflang |
| كود خصم + your brand | Arabic | Offers page | Shoppers ready to buy, looking for a code |
The research method is explained in our Arabic keyword research guide.
2. Shopify technical SEO
- Markets and subfolders. Arabic and English on their own URLs, such as
/ar-sa/and/en-sa/, on your custom domain. - Hreflang check. Shopify writes the tags for Markets subfolders. We confirm they use valid codes like
ar-SA, point at live pages and match on both sides. - No forced redirects. Geolocation apps that push visitors between languages can stop Google seeing your Arabic pages. We swap them for a banner.
- Arabic checkout and notifications. Arabic isn't among Shopify's pre-translated checkout languages, so we make sure the whole path reads in Arabic.
- Speed on mobile. Lighter Arabic fonts, fewer heavy apps and compressed images, tested on a mid-range Android phone.
3. Collection pages that rank
Collections are where most Saudi shopping searches land. They're also where Shopify stores lose the most ground.

- Arabic titles and metas written around your keyword map, not the auto-translated defaults.
- A short Arabic intro above the grid and helpful copy or FAQs below it.
- Filter and sort URLs kept out of the index, so Google doesn't crawl thousands of near-copies.
- Clean internal links. Many themes link products through
/collections/…/products/…paths. We point links at the main product URL instead, so authority isn't split.
4. Product pages and schema
- Arabic product titles that lead with the word Saudis search, then brand, size or scent.
- Descriptions written natively, with specs, delivery and returns in Arabic too.
- Product schema with the Arabic name, SAR prices and stock status on the Arabic page.
- Alt text and handles. Arabic alt text, plus one clear rule for handles: Arabic or English, never a mix.
5. Saudi content calendar
White Friday, Ramadan, Eid and Saudi National Day drive the biggest search spikes of the year. We plan one evergreen landing page per season and refresh it each year on the same URL, so it keeps the authority it built.
The dates and ideas are in our Ramadan ecommerce guide.
6. Feeds and reporting
- Merchant Center feeds for Saudi Arabia, in Arabic and English, matching each landing page's language and currency.
- Search Console set up per market, with each language sitemap submitted.
- Monthly report filtered to Saudi Arabia: clicks, impressions, positions and indexed pages per language.
How does a Shopify SEO project work?
Five steps, from first call to steady reporting. How long each one takes depends on your catalogue size and how much needs fixing.
- 1
Discovery
A call about what you sell, which Saudi searches matter to you and how your store is set up today. We look at your Search Console data if you have it.
- 2
Plan
A Shopify SEO audit and a Saudi keyword map, with a written scope and quote broken down by deliverable. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- 3
Build
Technical fixes on a duplicate theme, then Arabic and English titles, collection copy, product pages and schema, in batches you review.
- 4
Launch
We publish the changes, check hreflang and canonicals in the live page source, submit sitemaps and request indexing for key pages.
- 5
Support
Monthly Search Console reporting for Saudi Arabia, new pages for upcoming seasons and fixes as Google recrawls the store.
Technical fixes usually show up in Search Console first, once Google recrawls the pages. Rankings for competitive collection terms take longer, so early reports track indexed Arabic pages and impressions.
What you get at handover
Everything lives in your own Shopify, Search Console and Merchant Center accounts. You'll have:
- An audit report listing every issue we found, what we fixed and what's left.
- A Saudi keyword map in Arabic and English, linked to your URLs.
- Rewritten collection and product pages for the agreed scope, live on your store.
- A template for new products, so your team writes Arabic titles and metas the same way.
- A content calendar for the next Saudi shopping seasons.
Why does Shopify SEO in Saudi Arabia need local know-how?
Shopify's SEO tools are solid. But three Saudi details catch out most generic setups.
Saudi Arabic isn't the Arabic a translator picks
A translator reaches for formal Arabic. Saudi shoppers search in their own words, and those words often differ.
For example, Google Trends shows جوال far ahead of موبايل in the Kingdom, while Egypt uses موبايل. A page titled with the Egyptian word misses most Saudi searches.
So we build the keyword map from Saudi search data first. Our ecommerce SEO guide for Saudi Arabia shows more examples.
Shopify's Arabic setup has gaps you fill by hand
Shopify handles a lot: subfolders, hreflang tags and language sitemaps for Markets. The gaps are in the details.
Translate & Adapt drafts Arabic for free, but machine titles rarely match what Saudis type. Many themes need a right-to-left check before Arabic goes live. And the checkout strings still need translating by hand.
None of these is hard to fix. They just need doing before Google indexes the Arabic version. Our guide to translating the Shopify checkout into Arabic walks through the checkout part step by step.
The Saudi shopping calendar shapes search
Saudi demand moves with the calendar. Searches for gifts, offers and outfits jump before White Friday, Ramadan, Eid and National Day.
Ramadan also moves about 11 days earlier each year. A store that publishes its seasonal pages on the day misses most of the build-up, so we schedule them weeks ahead.
Notes for brands selling into Saudi Arabia from abroad
Cross-border Shopify stores face one extra hurdle: Google and shoppers both look for signs you really serve the Kingdom.
A few things help on both fronts:
- Prices in SAR with VAT included on the Saudi market, not converted dollars at checkout.
- Saudi delivery times and returns stated on product pages and in an Arabic FAQ.
- A Saudi market in Shopify Markets with its own
/ar-sa/and/en-sa/subfolders, even if you ship from overseas. - Saudi trust signals where you have them, such as a local WhatsApp number or Saudi Business Center authentication.
If you're still setting up the business side, our GCC market entry service covers it.
Notes for stores selling in Saudi Arabia and the UAE
One Shopify store can rank in both countries. The trick is giving each market its own pages where prices or delivery differ.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE usually do differ: SAR versus AED, and different VAT rates. So we set up /ar-sa/ and /ar-ae/ as separate Arabic versions, each with valid hreflang. Keywords differ too. For example, Emiratis and Kuwaitis lean towards هاتف where Saudis type جوال.
This page covers the Saudi side. For the UAE half, our ecommerce SEO service in Dubai handles English-first UAE search. Our Shopify Markets guide explains how both markets share one store.
What will you need to provide?
We do the SEO work. A few things only you can supply:
- Staff access to Shopify with permission to edit themes, products, collections and translations.
- Search Console and Google Analytics access, or permission to set them up in your name.
- Merchant Center access if you list products on Google.
- Your priorities. Your best-selling and highest-margin products, so the plan targets them first.
- Brand rules, including words you never use and how formal your Arabic should sound.
- A reviewer. One person who can approve Arabic copy and theme changes quickly.
If you're still building the store, our Shopify development service in Saudi Arabia sets up the SEO foundations as part of the build.
Is this service right for you?

Frequently asked questions
It depends on scope: how many collections and products need work, whether you run Arabic and English, and whether you want a one-off project or ongoing help. After the discovery call we send a written quote broken down by deliverable. Many stores start with an audit and their top collections, then decide on more.
