- No analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party tracking scripts.
- One preference cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, remembers your language when you use the language switcher.
- Checklist ticks are saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to us.
- You can clear both in your browser settings at any time.
This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies MiddleEastEcom.com uses, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our privacy policy.
The short answer: we don't use tracking cookies. We use one preference cookie for your language and your browser's local storage for checklist progress.
What are cookies and local storage?
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. Local storage is a similar feature that lets a website keep small amounts of data on your device.
Both can be used to remember your settings. They can also be used to track people across sites, which we don't do.
What we use
| Name | Type | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | First-party cookie | Remembers the language you picked in the language switcher (English, Arabic or Chinese) | 1 year, or until you clear it |
| checklist:<id> | Local storage | Saves which items you ticked on an interactive checklist, so your progress is still there when you return | Until you clear it |
Language cookie
The NEXT_LOCALE cookie is set only when you click a language in the language switcher. It stores a single value such as "en", "ar" or "zh". It contains no personal data and isn't used to identify or track you.
Checklist progress in local storage
Some guides include interactive checklists. When you tick an item, your browser saves the list of ticks in local storage under a key like "checklist:" followed by the checklist's name.
This data stays on your device. It is never sent to our server, and we can't see it.
What we don't use
We don't use:
- analytics tools such as Google Analytics
- advertising or retargeting pixels
- social media tracking scripts
- third-party embeds that set their own cookies
Our fonts are bundled with the site and served from our own domain, so no font requests go to third parties.
We don't need your consent for the items above because they are strictly needed for features you choose to use and don't track you. If we ever add analytics or other non-essential cookies, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
