- Riyadh is the usual first Saudi warehouse. It takes about 44% of Saudi delivery orders.
- Shared storage costs about SAR 45–110 per cbm a month. Amazon.sa's FBA storage works out at about SAR 106 per cbm.
- Stock must be imported by someone with a Saudi CR: your own company or an importer-of-record partner.
- Holding stock in the Kingdom means registering for Saudi VAT. Non-residents have no threshold and must register within 30 days.
- Selling from Dubai today? Add Riyadh at about 30% Saudi orders, and move everything only above about 45%.
Saudi Arabia is the Gulf's biggest ecommerce market. And it's growing fast: app-based delivery orders rose 60% in a year.
Its shoppers expect their orders tomorrow, not next week.
Stock inside the Kingdom makes that easy. A Riyadh warehouse reaches the capital the same or next day, and Jeddah and Dammam in one to two.
Here's when Saudi storage pays off, who can hold the stock, which city to pick and what it costs in SAR, plus 7 independently researched providers. It's part of our directory of warehousing providers in the Middle East.
When do you need a warehouse in Saudi Arabia?
When enough of your orders go to Saudi buyers. If you already sell from Dubai, add a Riyadh warehouse once Saudi Arabia reaches about 30% of your orders. Move all your stock there only above about 45%.
Below 30%, Saudi orders shipped as cross-border parcels from Dubai are usually cheaper. The sums are in our Saudi vs UAE warehousing comparison.
Other good reasons to store in the Kingdom:
- You sell B2B. Saudi retailers and distributors want pallets delivered from local stock.
- You feed Amazon.sa or noon. Bulk stock in a nearby warehouse tops up FBA and FBN every week or two.
- You sell food, cosmetics or supplements. SFDA-approved local storage keeps regulated goods compliant.
- You stock up for Ramadan. Peak stock arrives weeks early and needs somewhere to wait.
Who can store goods in a Saudi warehouse?
Someone with a Saudi CR (commercial registration) has to import the stock. That party is the importer of record, or IOR. The warehouse simply holds goods that the IOR has cleared.
You have three ways to cover it:
- 1
Use your own Saudi CR
Saudi founders and foreign-owned companies registered with MISA can import in their own name.
- 2
Use an importer-of-record partner
Some providers import for you. Starlinks says it offers IOR, and NAQEL says it is a Saudi customs AEO that combines clearance with storage.
- 3
Register for Saudi VAT
Once you hold stock in the Kingdom, your Saudi sales are domestic. Non-residents have no threshold and must register with ZATCA within 30 days.
- 4
Clear product approvals
Regulated goods need SABER certificates. Cosmetics, food and supplements need SFDA approval before they enter.
Most foreign brands start with an IOR partner and set up their own entity later, if at all. Our importer of record guide compares the options.
Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam: where should you store?
Pick Riyadh first, unless your buyers are mostly in the west or the east. Then think about where your freight lands.
| City | Best for | Freight usually arrives via | Storage options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riyadh | Your first Saudi warehouse, with same-day delivery in the capital | Dammam port, then about 400 km by road or rail; or by truck from Dubai | Mainland 3PLs, dark stores, SILZ, Riyadh's special logistics zone |
| Jeddah | Makkah, Madinah and the west coast | Jeddah Islamic Port, Saudi Arabia's busiest container port | Mainland 3PLs; Bahri's bonded zone at the port |
| Dammam and Khobar | The Eastern Province and Bahrain | King Abdulaziz Port, the main import gateway | Mainland 3PLs near the port |
Riyadh is also where most new capacity is going, much of it in SILZ.
Grade-A space is tighter in Jeddah and Dammam, so book early if you need it there. Container routes to each port are covered in our list of freight forwarders in Saudi Arabia.
How much does warehousing cost in Saudi Arabia?
Shared storage runs about SAR 45–110 per cbm (cubic metre) a month. That's well below what Amazon.sa and noon charge to hold the same stock.
Where you land in that range depends on a few things:
- Special handling. Temperature-controlled and SFDA-approved space costs more than dry racking.
- Volume and term. Bigger, steadier volumes on longer contracts win lower rates.
- City and grade. Grade-A space in a tight market, such as Jeddah, is priced higher.
| Fee line | Typical 2026 rate |
|---|---|
| Storage, per cbm | SAR 45–110 a month |
| Receiving | SAR 2–5 per carton, or SAR 20–40 per pallet |
| Amazon.sa FBA storage, for comparison | SAR 3 per cubic foot a month (about SAR 106 per cbm) |
| Noon FBN storage, for comparison | SAR 2.75 per cubic foot a month (about SAR 97 per cbm) |
| Setup | Often waived; up to SAR 2,000 |
Worked example: bulk stock behind Amazon.sa
Say a home-goods brand holds 40 cbm of stock in Saudi Arabia and sells mostly on Amazon.sa. It can keep everything in FBA, or keep 10 cbm in FBA and the rest in a Riyadh warehouse. The warehouse charges SAR 80 per cbm.
| Setup | Calculation | Storage a month (SAR) |
|---|---|---|
| Everything in FBA | 40 cbm × SAR 106 | 4,240 |
| 10 cbm in FBA, 30 cbm in a warehouse | (10 × 106) + (30 × 80) | 3,460 |
That's SAR 780 a month saved, or SAR 9,360 a year. Weekly top-up trips to the FBA centre come off that.
So what can a top-up cost before the split stops paying? With about four trips a month, the break-even is roughly SAR 195 a trip. Ask each warehouse to quote it.
The bigger win is flexibility. The same warehouse stock can also feed noon, your own store and B2B orders.

How do you choose a Saudi warehousing provider?
Start with the import route, then the city, then the price. A cheap rate is no use if the provider can't receive your goods legally.

Notes for sellers based in the UAE
- Keep Dubai as your hub. It still serves the UAE and the rest of the GCC. Compare warehousing companies in the UAE.
- Move your best sellers first. Truck your top Saudi lines to Riyadh and leave slow movers in Dubai. Our guide to fulfilment in Dubai covers the UAE side.
- Budget for each crossing. A full truck from Dubai to Riyadh takes about 2–3 days. Each load needs border paperwork and SABER certificates.
- Plan the Saudi side in full. Our guide to ecommerce fulfilment in Saudi Arabia covers COD, the National Address rule and delivery.
Notes for Salla, Zid and Shopify stores
- Check the connection first. Salasa says it integrates with Salla, Zid and Shopify, so stock levels and orders sync without uploads.
- Ask about dark stores. Salasa also says its Riyadh dark stores deliver in as little as two hours.
- Keep one stock pool. A warehouse that also feeds noon and Amazon saves you splitting stock by channel.
Notes for Chinese sellers
- Ship Saudi stock direct. Once Riyadh is open, send containers straight to Dammam rather than via Dubai.
- Plan the timing. LCL sea freight from China takes 5–7 weeks from booking to warehouse check-in.
- Compare both cities. Our guide to overseas warehouses in Dubai vs Riyadh applies the same 30% and 45% rule.

Frequently asked questions
The warehouse itself is quick: good providers receive and shelve stock within one to two days of arrival. The paperwork takes longer. Line up the importer of record, SABER certificates and VAT registration a month or two before the first truck or container leaves.
