- Next-day covers all seven emirates from about AED 17 a parcel. Same-day in Dubai costs about AED 35–60 and needs an order by about 11 am.
- Sharjah and the northern emirates often have earlier same-day cut-offs, around 10 am.
- Many UAE addresses are landmark-based. Ask for a map pin and a phone number, and confirm COD orders on WhatsApp.
- Payout speed is part of the price. Jeebly guarantees COD payouts within 7 days, and Quiqup pays weekly.
- UAE law asks you to show delivery and payment fees before checkout, so set your courier rules before launch.
UAE shoppers treat fast delivery as normal. Next-day reaches every emirate, and same-day is common in Dubai.
That's good news for a new store. The country is compact, so local couriers deliver quickly and cheaply, collect cash on delivery (COD) and pay it back to you each week.
The market is busy too. Ecommerce makes up about 42% of the UAE's parcel market, so couriers compete hard for online sellers.
Below are the emirate cut-offs, address habits, rules and costs that are specific to the UAE, plus 9 independently researched couriers. Courier types and the regional picture sit in our main list of last-mile delivery companies in the Middle East.
Do you need your own courier in the UAE?
You do if you sell through your own store, because someone has to carry each order to the shopper. How you book that courier depends on how you sell:
- Shopify or WooCommerce store. Local couriers such as Jeebly and Quiqup connect directly, with no long contract to start.
- Stock with a 3PL. The warehouse books couriers on its own contracts and pays COD out to you. Compare 3PL and fulfilment companies in the UAE.
- Marketplace fulfilment. With Fulfilled by noon or FBA, the marketplace delivers for you.
- Shipping from abroad. You still need a local courier for returns and re-deliveries, or a 3PL that handles them.
How does delivery differ by emirate?
The speed you can promise depends on where the shopper lives and where your stock sits. Dubai has the most choice, while the northern emirates have earlier cut-offs.
| Where the shopper is | Same-day | Typical same-day cut-off | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai | Widely available | About 11 am | The most couriers to choose from, including 4-hour slots |
| Abu Dhabi | Available | About 11 am | Same-day costs a little more than in Dubai |
| Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah | Some couriers | About 10 am | Earlier cut-offs and higher same-day prices |
| Other emirates and remote areas | Limited | Ask each courier | Next-day or 1–2 days, with Emirates Post for remote addresses |
Next-day covers all seven emirates. So most stores promise next-day everywhere and offer same-day only in Dubai, plus Abu Dhabi if it pays off.
Addresses without a code
There's no national address code in the UAE, unlike Saudi Arabia. Many addresses are a building name, an area and a landmark.
Ask shoppers for a map pin and a mobile number at checkout. Couriers that call or WhatsApp shoppers before they arrive deliver first time more often.

When same-day pays off
Same-day works best for gifts, beauty and fashion orders in Dubai, where shoppers will pay for speed. It needs stock in the city, so it suits stores with a Dubai warehouse or 3PL.
For everything else, next-day is cheaper and still feels fast to most shoppers. Our UAE courier comparison shows which couriers sell same-day slots and express.
Which UAE rules affect your deliveries?
Three rules touch your delivery set-up, and none of them is hard to meet.
- Show all fees before checkout. The UAE's ecommerce law asks you to make delivery and payment fees clear before the shopper pays. Our UAE ecommerce law guide covers the details.
- Late or wrong deliveries can be returned. Shoppers can return goods that arrive too late to be useful or not as described. See UAE consumer protection rules.
- Free zone companies need the zone's sign-off. Delivering online orders to UAE consumers is common, once the zone confirms it in writing. Compare set-ups in our free zone vs mainland guide.
What does last-mile delivery cost in the UAE?
Next-day delivery for a small parcel costs about AED 17–30, depending on the courier and your volume. Same-day costs roughly double, and more in Sharjah and the northern emirates.
COD handling usually adds AED 5–15 a parcel, unless the courier includes it in the base rate.
Refused COD parcels are the hidden cost, because you pay for the trip out and the trip back. Quiqup says many UAE merchants see 20–35% of COD orders come back, and our guide to cutting COD return-to-origin shows how to bring that down.
The emirate-by-emirate price table and a worked cost-per-delivered-order example are in our UAE courier companies comparison.

How do you choose a courier in the UAE?
Start with your speed promise and your COD share, then test with real parcels. These four steps fit a UAE store:
- 1
Decide your speed promise
Next-day everywhere suits most stores. Add same-day only in Dubai, or Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where it lifts sales.
- 2
Collect a map pin and a phone number
Make both required at checkout. They matter more than the street name for a first-time delivery.
- 3
Pair a local specialist with a wider network
A local courier handles fast city delivery. Aramex covers the rest of the GCC, and Emirates Post helps with remote addresses.
- 4
Run a 30-day test across emirates
Compare first-attempt delivery, refusals and COD payout days in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates.

Notes for stores selling into Saudi Arabia
- Dubai stock can serve Saudi shoppers. Courier-cleared DDP parcels pay Saudi import VAT at the border, plus a SAR 15 customs fee, and usually don't trigger Saudi VAT registration.
- Use a courier with a Saudi lane. Aramex, SMSA, Naqel and Quiqup all run UAE-to-Saudi services. Our guide to shipping from Dubai to Saudi Arabia covers timing and costs.
- Saudi delivery has its own rules. Every parcel needs a National Address, and the courier mix differs. See last-mile delivery companies in Saudi Arabia.
