Amazon Middle East Seller Fees: Amazon.sa and Amazon.ae Costs

Selling on Amazon.sa or Amazon.ae costs a referral fee of 3–16% per sale plus a delivery fee, about SAR 10 or AED 10.5 per FBA order. There's no monthly plan fee for now and no closing fee. On a typical product, Amazon keeps about a quarter of the price.

Key takeaways
  • You pay two main fees per sale: a referral fee of 3–16% by category, and a fulfilment fee if Amazon delivers. Most products pay 10–15% referral.
  • The Professional plan fee is waived on both stores, and neither store charges a closing fee.
  • FBA costs SAR 10 or AED 10.5 for a standard parcel up to 1 kg priced above 25, which is cheaper than Easy Ship for small items.
  • Amazon adds VAT to its fees: 15% in Saudi Arabia, 5% in the UAE. VAT-registered sellers reclaim it.
  • 2026 incentives can cut the referral fee to 5% on your first 100 FBA units, or by 30% for Saudi-based sellers until 31 December.

Selling on Amazon in the Gulf is cheaper to start than almost anywhere else Amazon operates. There's no monthly fee right now, and no closing fee.

You pay when you sell. Amazon takes a referral fee, a share of each sale, plus a delivery fee if it ships for you.

On a typical product, that adds up to about a quarter of the price.

Below you'll find every fee on Amazon.sa and Amazon.ae in SAR and AED, a worked example, the 2026 discounts and a calculator for your own product.

What does it cost to sell on Amazon Middle East?

Amazon.sa and Amazon.ae charge the same kinds of fees. Which ones you pay depends mostly on how you deliver:

Amazon takes every fee off your sales before it pays you. You never get an invoice to settle, and the balance lands in your bank account every 14 days.

Plan fee: waived on both stores

Amazon's Professional plan normally costs a monthly fee. On Amazon.sa and Amazon.ae, it's waived "for a limited time", with no end date given.

That matters more than it sounds. You need the Professional plan to run ads, so it's the plan every serious seller picks anyway.

Referral fees: the main cost

The referral fee is Amazon's commission. It's a percentage of the total price the buyer pays, including VAT and any shipping you charge.

Rates depend on your category, and most products pay 10–15%. Most items pay at least SAR 1 or AED 1.

Phones and electronics pay the least. Fashion, perfume and home goods sit near the top.

Some categories use price bands, so cheaper items in that category pay a lower rate. Beauty is the classic example.

FBA fees: what Amazon charges to deliver

FBA (Fulfilment by Amazon) means Amazon stores your stock, packs each order, delivers it and handles returns. You pay one fee per unit shipped, set by size, weight and price.

Here are the most common size tiers:

Size tierAmazon.sa (SAR)Amazon.ae (AED)
Small envelope, up to 100 g7.57.5
Standard envelope, up to 500 g8.58.5
Standard parcel, up to 500 g9.59.5

Per unit, for items priced above 25, excluding VAT. Items priced at 25 or less pay SAR or AED 2–4 less. Source: Amazon FBA schedule effective 1 Aug 2025.

Cheap items get a break. Price a small parcel at SAR 25 or less, and its FBA fee drops by about a fifth.

FBA also earns the Prime badge, with free two-day delivery in Saudi Arabia and one-day delivery in the UAE. That badge does a lot of your selling for you.

Prep rules and inbound steps are in our guides to FBA in Saudi Arabia and FBA in the UAE.

Storage fees

Amazon charges a monthly fee for the space your stock takes up in its warehouses. It's SAR 3 per cubic foot on Amazon.sa and AED 2 on Amazon.ae, based on your average daily volume.

For a small product, it's pocket change. A shoebox-sized carton takes about 0.2 cubic feet. That's about SAR 0.60 or AED 0.40 a month.

Storage only bites when stock sits still. On Amazon.ae, units stored 271–365 days pay an extra AED 8 per cubic foot a month. After 365 days, that rises to AED 30.

Amazon.sa adds its long-term fee after 365 days, and dangerous goods pay more.

So send what you'll sell in the next two to three months, not a year's supply.

Easy Ship and Self Ship fees

Don't want your stock in Amazon's warehouse? You have two other options:

  • Easy Ship. You store and pack the order, and Amazon's courier collects it from you and delivers it.
  • Self Ship. You use your own courier, such as SMSA, Aramex or SPL. Amazon charges no fulfilment fee, but you pay the courier and lose the Prime badge.

Easy Ship is priced by weight:

Parcel weightAmazon.sa (SAR)Amazon.ae (AED)

Up to 2 kg22.516
Oversize, first kg28.518.5

Per parcel, excluding VAT. Amazon uses the actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher. Source: sell.amazon.sa and sell.amazon.ae pricing.

For a small parcel, Easy Ship costs about double FBA on Amazon.sa and about 40% more on Amazon.ae. It earns its place for bulky, slow-moving items, where FBA storage would add up. Our Amazon Easy Ship guide covers pickup and the rate bands.

Is there a closing fee on Amazon.sa or Amazon.ae?

No. Neither store charges a closing fee.

Amazon.ae used to charge AED 3 per unit on items under AED 50. It dropped that fee to zero on 1 September 2020, and Amazon.sa doesn't list one either.

Good news for low-priced products. A AED 30 phone case pays its referral fee and delivery fee, and nothing on top.

VAT on Amazon's fees

Amazon adds VAT to every fee it charges you: 15% on Amazon.sa and 5% on Amazon.ae.

If you're VAT-registered, you reclaim that VAT in your return. Your real fee cost is the ex-VAT figure.

Local businesses register once taxable sales pass SAR or AED 375,000. Foreign sellers with stock in the Gulf usually register from the first sale. The VAT and tax advisors in our directory can sort your registration quickly.

Worked example: what you keep from a 99 sale

Let's put the fees together. Say you sell a toy building-block set for SAR 99 on Amazon.sa and AED 99 on Amazon.ae. It weighs 0.8 kg and ships with FBA.

Fee lineAmazon.saAmazon.ae
Referral fee (toys, 14% of the full price)SAR 13.86AED 13.86
FBA fee (standard parcel up to 1 kg)SAR 10.00AED 10.50
Total Amazon fees (ex-VAT)SAR 23.86 (24%)AED 24.36 (25%)
VAT Amazon adds to those feesSAR 3.58 (15%)AED 1.22 (5%)
Amazon pays you per saleSAR 71.56AED 73.42

That's the money that reaches your bank. From it, you pay your product cost, freight and the output VAT on the sale. If you're VAT-registered, you claim back the VAT on fees.

Same toy, shipped with Easy Ship

Switch the toy to Easy Ship and the delivery fee jumps, especially in Saudi Arabia:

Fee lineAmazon.saAmazon.ae
Referral fee (14%)SAR 13.86AED 13.86
Easy Ship fee (up to 1 kg)SAR 20.50AED 15.00
VAT on feesSAR 5.15AED 1.44
Amazon pays you per saleSAR 59.49AED 68.70

FBA leaves you SAR 12.07 more per sale in Saudi Arabia. Storage for this toy costs well under SAR 1 a month, so FBA wins clearly.

2026 incentives that cut your fees

Amazon is courting new Gulf sellers hard this year. Several offers go straight at your fee bill:

  • 30% off referral fees (Amazon.sa). For your first 60 days, on up to SAR 150,000 of sales. It's for sellers based in and shipping from Saudi Arabia, who list within 20 days of opening their account. It closes on 31 December 2026.
  • New-to-Prime discount (both stores). A 5% referral fee on the first 100 units of each new FBA product.
  • FBA New Selection (both stores). Free storage on your first 30 units for up to 90 days.
  • Sponsored Products credit. Up to SAR 3,500 on Amazon.sa or AED 3,700 on Amazon.ae, to pay for your first clicks.
  • Brand bonus. Up to 5% back on your first SAR or AED 3.5 million of branded sales, if you join Brand Registry within six months.

What do they do to the toy example? Here's the payout under each referral offer:

On Amazon.ae, New-to-Prime lifts the toy's payout from AED 73.42 to AED 82.78.

How to keep more of every sale

Fees are fixed, but how much they eat into your margin isn't. A few habits make a real difference:

  • Price above 25 only when you need to. FBA drops by about SAR or AED 2 at 25 and below, which matters on cheap accessories.
  • Shrink the box. Dropping one weight tier often saves SAR 2 a unit on Amazon.sa.
  • Send stock in smaller batches. Storage stays tiny and you never hit the long-term fee.
  • Claim every incentive. Enrol in FBA New Selection before your first shipment and Brand Registry in your first month.
  • Register for VAT if you can. Reclaiming VAT on fees turns SAR 3.58 a sale back into profit.

Notes for electronics sellers

Electronics get the lowest referral rates on Amazon in the Gulf:

  • Mobiles. 5.5% on Amazon.sa and 5% on Amazon.ae.
  • Consumer electronics. 5.5% on Amazon.sa and 7% on Amazon.ae.
  • Accessories are different. Cases, cables and chargers pay 15% up to 250 and 8% above, on both stores.
  • Watch the FBA fee on cheap accessories. A SAR 29 cable pays SAR 4.35 in referral but at least SAR 7.50 to deliver.

Notes for fashion and beauty brands

Fashion and beauty pay more, but margins usually carry it:

  • Apparel and shoes. A flat 15% on both stores.
  • Perfumes. 15%, or 13% on Amazon.ae when you use FBA.
  • Beauty. Amazon.sa charges 8.5% up to SAR 50 and 11% above. Amazon.ae charges 8% up to AED 50 and 15% above.

Thinking about noon too? Its fashion rates are higher, and our noon seller fees guide has the numbers.

Notes for Chinese sellers

Chinese brands get their own 2026 package through Amazon Global Selling China:

  • Prepaid referral voucher. Worth USD 50,000, covering 5% of your first USD 1 million in branded sales.
  • FBA inbound cashback. Up to SAR 3,754 per product on Amazon.sa or AED 3,672 on Amazon.ae, until 30 December 2026.
  • Ad coupon. USD 1,000 for Sponsored Products.

Our guide to Amazon Middle East for Chinese sellers covers registration and shipping.

Notes for sellers shipping from abroad

Amazon's fees are the same wherever you're based, but your landed cost isn't:

  • Amazon won't be your importer of record. Use your own Gulf entity or a forwarder's importer-of-record service, and ship DDP (duties paid).
  • Count duty and VAT on import. Most goods pay 5% customs duty on the CIF value, plus import VAT at 15% in Saudi Arabia or 5% in the UAE.
  • Pick your payout route. You can be paid into a bank in a supported country, or through providers such as WorldFirst, Payoneer or LianLian. Check their FX margin, because it's a fee too.

All our Amazon guides sit in the Amazon Middle East hub.

Prefer hands-off? Marketplace management agencies can handle listings, ads and fees for you.

Frequently asked questions

On a typical product, about a quarter of the price: a referral fee of 10–15% plus an FBA fee of around SAR 10. Amazon then adds 15% VAT to those fees, which you reclaim if you're VAT-registered. Budget separately for storage, ads and returns.
