Shopify Plus in the GCC: Cost, Features and When It's Worth It

Shopify Plus costs $2,300 a month on a 3-year term or $2,500 on a 1-year term, the same in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and everywhere billed in USD. For most Gulf brands it pays off when you run stores in more than one country or need large-scale wholesale and checkout control, not for the fee savings alone.

Key takeaways
  • Plus costs $2,300 a month on a 3-year term or $2,500 on a 1-year term. There's no Gulf discount, unlike Basic and Grow.
  • High-volume stores can also pay a variable platform fee. Shopify quotes it privately, so get the rate and threshold in writing.
  • Saudi stores still pay Shopify's third-party fee on gateway orders, but it drops to 0.2%. UAE stores get Shopify Payments at 2.5% + AED 1.
  • Up to 9 free expansion stores let you run a UAE store and a Saudi store, each with its own entity, currency and gateway.
  • On fees alone, Plus beats Advanced for a Saudi store at about SAR 1.9 million a month in gateway sales. Multi-country, B2B and checkout needs usually justify it sooner.

Shopify Plus is Shopify's top plan, built for brands that have outgrown a single store. It starts at $2,300 a month.

That sounds steep next to Basic. But Gulf brands rarely move to Plus to save on fees. They move because they're opening a second country, scaling up wholesale or need full control of checkout.

The Gulf rewards that kind of growth. A brand that wins in Riyadh can open in Dubai, Kuwait and Doha with the same team and the same catalogue.

Here's what Plus really costs in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, what you get for it, and how to tell if your store is ready.

What is Shopify Plus?

Shopify Plus is the enterprise version of Shopify. It runs on the same platform, admin and app store as the plan you're on now. So upgrading changes your contract and features, not your store.

What changes is the ceiling. Plus adds more stores, more staff, more checkout control and lower transaction fees.

Here's how it compares with Advanced, the plan most brands move up from:

How much does Shopify Plus cost in the GCC?

Plus costs $2,300 a month on the three-year term. The one-year term costs $2,500 a month, and Gulf stores are billed in US dollars.

Unlike Basic and Grow, Plus has no regional discount. A Saudi or UAE brand pays the same as a US one.

The variable platform fee

Very large stores pay more. Above a certain revenue, Shopify adds a variable platform fee based on your sales and business model, with different rates for B2B and direct-to-consumer orders.

Shopify doesn't publish the rate. Agencies report about 0.25–0.40% of sales.

It usually starts somewhere between $800,000 and $1 million in monthly sales.

Most Gulf brands sit well below that line. If you're near it, the threshold is negotiable, so get it in your contract.

The rest of the bill

The subscription is only part of it. Here's what Plus brands in the region typically budget on top:

  • Apps: about $500–2,000 a month for reviews, loyalty, search, COD checks and translation.
  • Build or migration: Plus-level agencies quote $50,000 and up for a full project.
  • Your gateway's fees, in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf outside the UAE.

What Plus adds for Gulf sellers

Plus comes with a long feature list. Four parts matter most for a brand selling across the GCC.

Expansion stores: one store per country

Plus includes up to 9 expansion stores at no extra subscription cost. Each one is a full, separate Shopify store.

That fits how the Gulf works. Many brands run one company in the UAE and another in Saudi Arabia, and each country has its own payments and currency.

For example, a fragrance brand can run:

  • A UAE store under its Dubai licence, charging AED through Shopify Payments.
  • A Saudi store under its Saudi CR (commercial registration), charging SAR through a local gateway with mada.
  • A third store for Kuwait or Qatar later, or for a second brand.

Shopify Markets can also sell to several countries from one store. That's simpler for a single company, while expansion stores suit brands with a local entity in each market. Our Shopify Markets guide explains when one store is enough.

Full checkout customisation

Shopify's checkout is fixed on most plans. On Plus, you can extend it with checkout extensibility, Shopify's system for custom checkout blocks and logic.

That matters in the Gulf, where checkout carries a lot of local detail:

  • BNPL presentation. Some Tabby display options at checkout are Plus-only. Our Tabby on Shopify guide covers the setup.
  • Address and phone fields that match how Gulf couriers deliver.
  • Upsells, gift messages and delivery-slot pickers for gifting seasons like Ramadan and Eid.

B2B and wholesale

Since April 2026, every Shopify plan includes native B2B: company accounts, wholesale catalogs and payment terms. Basic, Grow and Advanced cap you at 3 active B2B catalogs.

Plus removes the cap. You can give every trade customer its own price list, payment terms and minimum orders.

For example, a Dubai beauty brand can sell to shoppers at retail prices and to salons, spas and distributors on separate price lists and net-30 terms. On Advanced, three price lists is the limit.

Team, scale and support

Big launches need more hands. Plus gives you unlimited staff accounts, 30 languages per store, up to 200 POS Pro locations and priority support around the clock.

Getting paid on Plus: UAE vs Saudi Arabia

Plus doesn't change where Shopify Payments works. In the Gulf, that's still only the UAE.

So your payment setup depends on where each store's company is registered:

UAE-licensed stores use Shopify Payments. On Plus, cards cost 2.5% + AED 1, with Apple Pay and Google Pay built in.

  • No third-party fee on Shopify Payments orders.
  • You can charge Saudi or Kuwaiti shoppers in their own currency, with a 2% conversion fee.

A Saudi Plus store sets up payments the same way as any Saudi Shopify store. You apply to a gateway with your CR and Saudi IBAN, install its app, then switch on mada and Apple Pay.

At Plus volumes, negotiate your gateway rate hard. Our guide to Shopify payment gateways in Saudi Arabia compares each option.

When is Shopify Plus worth it?

Plus pays for itself in two ways: lower fees and features you'd otherwise pay for elsewhere. Fees are the easier part to measure.

Worked example: a Saudi brand at SAR 2 million a month

Take a Saudi brand selling SAR 2 million a month through its gateway. Here's what Shopify charges it each month on each plan, on the cheapest term:

Monthly Shopify cost at SAR 2M in gateway sales (Saudi store)
Basic
40071 SAR
Grow
20203 SAR
Advanced
13121 SAR
Plus (3-year)
12625 SAR
Subscription plus Shopify's third-party fee, annual billing or 3-year term, at SAR 3.75 per USD. Shopify KSA and Plus pricing, Oct 2026. Excludes gateway fees, apps and VAT.

Plus comes out slightly cheaper than Advanced, by about SAR 500 a month.

The maths is simple. Plus costs about SAR 7,500 a month more than Advanced. It saves 0.4% on every gateway order.

So on fees alone, Plus beats Advanced at about SAR 1.9 million a month in gateway sales. On the 1-year term, that rises to about SAR 2.1 million.

Cash on delivery doesn't count toward it, because COD carries no Shopify fee.

The UAE maths is different

UAE stores on Shopify Payments save much less. The card rate drops from 2.7% on Advanced to 2.5% on Plus.

Plus costs about $2,000 a month more than Advanced. At a saving of 0.2% per card order, that puts the fee-only break-even at about $1 million a month in card sales.

That's also roughly where the variable platform fee kicks in. Tabby and Tamara orders save the full 0.4%, so a big BNPL share pulls the line lower, but not by enough to change the picture.

So UAE brands almost never upgrade for fees. They upgrade for the features.

When the features tip it

Most Gulf brands should upgrade earlier than the fee break-even if they need one of these:

  • A second country with its own entity. Expansion stores replace a second full subscription and a second set of apps.
  • Wholesale at scale. More than 3 trade price lists, or B2B big enough to replace a separate wholesale platform.
  • Checkout control for BNPL, delivery slots or custom fields.
  • Big seasonal peaks, like White Friday and Ramadan, where priority support and automation save real money.

Run your own payment mix through the comparator. Switch between Advanced and Plus to see the gap at your volume.

How to move to Shopify Plus

The upgrade itself is quick, because your store stays where it is. The planning is what takes time.

  1. 1

    Model your costs

Work out your gateway sales, BNPL share and COD share, then compare Advanced and Plus at your volume.

  2. 2

    Talk to Shopify's Plus team

Ask for your base fee, term options and any variable platform fee in writing, including the threshold.

  3. 3

    Pick your term

Take 1 year if your growth is uncertain. Take 3 years once you're confident, to save $200 a month.

  4. 4

    Plan your stores

Decide which countries get their own expansion store, and which you serve through Shopify Markets.

  5. 5

    Brief a Plus partner

Scope checkout extensions, B2B, ERP links and any new country stores before you sign.

  6. 6

    Launch in stages

Upgrade the main store first. Open each expansion store once its company, gateway and courier are ready.

Notes for Saudi brands

  • Shopify Payments is still unavailable, so Plus doesn't give you local-currency checkout across markets. Expansion stores solve that instead.
  • Plus doesn't add ZATCA e-invoicing. You still need an invoicing app or an ERP link.
  • For a Saudi-only store, compare Salla and Zid first. They charge no sales commission. Our Shopify in Saudi Arabia guide covers that choice.

Notes for UAE brands

  • Tabby and Tamara orders still carry the 0.2% fee, because they install as separate apps.
  • A Saudi expansion store is the usual next step once you open a Saudi company. Our Shopify in the UAE guide covers the Dubai side.

Notes for B2B and wholesale sellers

  • Every Shopify plan now has B2B, but only Plus has unlimited catalogs. If you need more than 3 price lists, that's often the deciding feature.
  • The variable platform fee differs for B2B orders, so ask for both rates when you negotiate.
  • Plan your ERP link early. Wholesale customers expect stock levels and invoices to match their accounts.

Finding a Shopify Plus partner in the Gulf

Most Plus brands work with a Shopify partner, an agency approved by Shopify. The Partner Directory ranks them in four tiers: Select, Plus, Premier and Platinum.

As of October 2026, here's what the directory shows for the region:

  • UAE: one Premier partner, Creative971 in Dubai, and about ten Plus partners, including Shopvert, Digital Gravity, SIAR Digital, The io agency and Fabrik.
  • Saudi Arabia: the directory can't filter by Saudi location yet. Codilar, Brainvire (Al Khobar) and REDROCK say on their own sites that they build Plus stores in the Kingdom.

Before you sign, ask each agency for its directory profile link and for live Arabic stores it has built. Our guide to choosing an ecommerce agency has the full question list.
