Buy Now Pay Later Providers in Saudi Arabia

Saudi stores usually start with Tabby and Tamara, then add MISpay or Madfu as a third option. Every BNPL provider here must hold a SAMA licence. Your part is simple: check out in SAR, keep one price for every payment method and never add a BNPL fee. Below are 5 independently researched providers licensed in Saudi Arabia.

Key takeaways
  • Tabby and Tamara handle almost all Saudi BNPL activity, so most stores offer both.
  • MISpay (SAMA-licensed) and Madfu (SAMA permit) are local options that catch shoppers whose main app limit is used up.
  • Saudi shoppers can owe up to SAR 10,000 across all BNPL apps. They pay no admin fee and no surcharge.
  • Your platform changes the bill. On Shopify, Saudi stores pay Shopify's third-party fee on top of the BNPL fee. Salla and Zid add nothing.
  • Jeel Pay finances school and university fees only. It isn't a checkout option for online shops.

BNPL is part of everyday shopping in Saudi Arabia. Tabby and Tamara are both run from Riyadh, and their logos sit on most fashion and beauty checkouts.

So the question for a Saudi store isn't whether to offer BNPL, but which providers to sign with, and how to stay on the right side of SAMA's rules.

Good news: the rules are short, and they protect your shoppers, which is a big reason BNPL is trusted here.

Here's what that means for a Saudi store, platform by platform, with a cost example in SAR. For other Gulf countries, see our main list of BNPL providers in the Middle East.

Does your Saudi store need a BNPL provider?

Yes, if you sell on your own website. BNPL is only about 4% of Saudi online payments. But it shows up most on the orders you want: fashion, beauty and electronics baskets that are too big to pay in one go.

Here's who needs what:

  • Salla or Zid store. Turn on Tabby and Tamara from your payment settings once you're approved.
  • Shopify store. Install each provider's app. Budget for Shopify's extra fee, covered below.
  • Store run from outside Saudi Arabia. Start with SAR checkout, covered in the notes below.

What do SAMA's rules mean for your checkout?

SAMA (the Saudi Central Bank) writes its BNPL rules for providers, not stores. A handful still land on your checkout:

SAMA ruleWhat you do
Only licensed finance companies may offer BNPLSign only with a provider on SAMA's register
No surcharge for BNPL usersKeep one price for mada, cards, Apple Pay, BNPL and COD
Admin fee suspendedShow the split price and nothing extra
Non-SAR purchases need SAMA's non-objectionCheck out in Saudi riyals
Up to SAR 10,000 owed per shopper, max 12 instalmentsOffer a card fallback for big baskets
Collection is electronic onlyRefund through the provider, never in cash

The surcharge ban matters most. Tamara's merchant terms also forbid it, and a breach can end your contract.

Which Saudi platforms support which BNPL provider?

Your store platform decides how easy setup is and what it costs. Tabby and Tamara work everywhere, while the local players vary.

BNPL support on Saudi store platforms, from Salla, Zid and Shopify help pages and app listings, October 2026.

Zid lists Tamara, Tabby, MISpay, Madfu and Emkan, and says it adds no charge of its own.

On Salla and Zid, BNPL is a switch in your payment settings once the provider approves your store.

Salla's free Basic plan can't take online payments, so you'll need Plus (SAR 99 a month) or higher.

On Shopify, the fee comes from Shopify Payments. It isn't available in Saudi Arabia, so Shopify charges its third-party fee on every BNPL order. Compare setups in our guide to Shopify payment gateways in Saudi Arabia.

What does BNPL cost a Saudi store?

No provider publishes its rate. For Tabby, sellers report about 3–5% plus a fixed SAR 1 per order. Tamara usually lands at 4–6%.

Saudi VAT of 15% applies to the provider's fee, not to your order.

Worked example: a SAR 800 jacket

Say a Riyadh fashion store sells an SAR 800 jacket through Tabby at 4%:

LineSalla or Zid (SAR)Shopify Basic (SAR)
BNPL fee at 4%32.0032.00
Fixed fee per order1.001.00
15% VAT on the BNPL fees4.954.95
Shopify third-party fee at 2%–16.00
Total cost37.95 (4.7%)53.95 (6.7%)

The same order costs SAR 16 more on Shopify Basic, though higher Shopify plans shrink that gap, down to 0.2% on Plus.

Is it still worth it? Compare it with a failed COD order, where you pay shipping out and back and sell nothing. For a fuller breakdown, see Tabby and Tamara merchant fees.

BNPL providers in Saudi Arabia

All five providers below hold a SAMA licence or permit, and four serve online stores. Jeel Pay finances education fees, so it's only relevant if you sell courses or run a school. They were independently researched and are listed in no particular order.

Which provider fits which Saudi store?

Each one has a clear sweet spot:

  • Tabby. The biggest user base, with 25 million registered users across its markets, and a strong first pick for fashion, beauty and electronics.
  • Tamara. Riyadh-born, with more than 87,000 merchants, it pays out every Tuesday and charges shoppers no late fees.
  • MISpay. Backed by Tadawul-listed Al Moammar Information Systems, it lets shoppers pay instalments with mada, cards or Apple Pay.
  • Madfu. A local option for Salla and Zid stores, which raised SAR 95 million in February 2026 to grow its merchant network.

How do you launch BNPL in a Saudi store?

Start with two providers, get the pricing right, then measure. Most of the work is paperwork, not code, so gather it early.

  1. 1

    Gather your documents

Your CR, a Saudi IBAN in your company's name, your store link and a returns policy. Providers review the store before they approve it.

  2. 2

Apply to Tabby and Tamara together

Ask both for a written rate for your category and volume. Applying in parallel saves weeks.

  3. 3

Switch it on in your platform

Enable both in Salla or Zid payment settings, or install the Shopify apps.

  4. 4

    Check prices and checkout

Confirm prices are in SAR and match across every payment method. Remove any BNPL fee line or COD-style surcharge.

  5. 5

    Test with a live order

Place a small real order and refund it. Check that the refund reaches the provider and cancels the instalments.

  6. 6

Add a third provider when declines show up

After a month, look at failed BNPL approvals. If they're common, add MISpay or Madfu.

Notes for sellers based outside Saudi Arabia

  • SAR checkout comes first. Non-SAR purchases need SAMA's non-objection, so a USD or CNY store can't simply add Saudi BNPL.
  • A UAE company is a common route. Tabby and Tamara serve both markets, though each country needs its own setup. See BNPL providers in the UAE.
  • Your entity sets the options. The cross-border routes are compared in our BNPL provider directory.

Notes for big-basket sellers

  • The SAR 10,000 cap is shared. It covers everything a shopper owes across all BNPL apps, so a SAR 6,000 sofa may not fit.
  • Keep a card fallback visible. When BNPL declines, mada or Apple Pay should be one tap away.

Frequently asked questions

For a Saudi storefront, providers ask for a trade licence and a bank account in the currency they pay you in. A Saudi CR (commercial registration) is the usual route. A GCC company can sometimes sign up too, as long as Saudi shoppers check out in SAR.
